Debojit hails from a quaint little town called Silchar, His tryst with music is not limited to the last four years of fame and success that the Zee Saregama embraced him with, when he won the "Voice of India" title. Since childhood, he grew up amidst nature, feeling and appreciating the nuances of musical notes. He took up the job of a Civil engineer in PWD, Assam, in order to meet ends; while music was the only thing that kept running through his veins.

Debojit started out as a singer in All India Radio and the Doordarshan Kendra in Silchar. He also leveraged on several opportunities to sing in concerts around Assam and West Bengal. Finally, life brought him to a crossroad where he had to make his choice between his job and passion for music. Subsequently, he grabbed the chance to participate in Zee SAREGAMA and before he knew, he coveted the title and became a household name!

Performing in front of a live audience acts as a catalyst to confidence building for any artist and this is one of Debojit's forte. His repertoire of songs is very eclectic and the spectrum widely ranges from soft melodies to foot-tapping dance numbers, as well as high octave Sufi songs. He has enthralled audiences all over the world with his extremely talented singing. While his high energy performances often galvanize his fans into frenzy; his soulful singing sometimes touches people hearts and brings tears to their eyes. He has travelled to, and performed several concerts in USA, Canada, South Africa, Republic of Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok to name a few….
