Devabrata Chaudhaari (Debu)

Popularly known as DEBU, Devabrata Chaudhaari is one of Indias outstanding musicians of the day. He received his early training from late Panchu Gopal Dutta and later from the seniormost traditional exponent of sitar, Ustaad Mushtaq Ali Khan of Senia Gharana, a traditional school of Indian music. Special feature of this senior gharana is that it represents an uninterrupted lineage of sitar players for eight generations. This is the only gharana in indian music which is still using 17 frets in the sitar. To promote Indian classical music Debu Chaudhari Has visted more than a hundred universities around the world and performed in various international music festivals. He has performed music for Indian and International television. He is ranked among the top-grade artists of all india radio and television. A member of the advisory committee of many cultural bodies and recipient of many honors, professor chaudhari is the dean of the faculty of music and fine arts and head of the deptt. of music, Delhi University.
