Dolly Guleria
Rupinder Kaur, better known as Dolly Guleria, a renowned Punjabi Folk singer, born in Mumbai on Baisakhi day, proudly enjoys the rich inheritance of Punjabi Folk singing from her mother late Smt. Surinder Kaur popularly known as 'The Nightingale of Punjab'. Dolly started her training in classical Music at the Gandharva Maha Vidhyalaya Delhi, where she also learnt 'Kathak' dance. She learnt Manipuri and Bharat Natyam at Triveni Kala Sangam Delhi.
She sang her first solo song at the All India Radio in 1967 as an amateur artist in Punjabi. Her first recording was in Shabad Gurbani released by HMV in 1968 and an LP (Long Play Record) on Marriage songs also inthe same year along with her mother. Under the guidance of her Ustad 'Khan Sahib' Abdul Rehman Khan , she choose to release her solo debut album in Gurbani in 'Ragas' and sang 'Rehraas Sahib'.
She has also contributed her voice as playback singer in Punjabi Films such as "Rab Dian Rakhaan" ,"Deson Pardes" and 'Main Maa Punjab Di".
