Jassi Sidhu

Jassi Sidhu

Over the past decade the UK bhangra market has been seen by many as the leader in producing fresh new Punjabi music. The fusion of the more traditional sounds and modern western beats has been established Britain as the home of the bhangra music.

One artist who has been at the forefront of this is Jassi Sidhu. It was clear even from the outset that Jassi Sidhu was destined for International success that he would go on to achieve later in his career. His rise to fame began almost instantly as a fresh faced young as the lead singer of the world renound boy-band B-21. The band went on to become one of the, if not the biggest, phenomenon’s in bhangra music to date, with a sound and style that captivated a generation. In just a five year period Jassi Sidhu went on to sing anthems such as “Darshan” from the hit “Bend it like Bekham”, “Jawani” and “Jaan” that would established Jassi Sidhu as the UK’s premier vocalist. Alas all good things come to an end and after the roller coaster ride that was B21, 2002 saw Jassi Sidhu venture out and take the huge step of becoming a solo artist.

In 2004 Jassi Sidhu came back with a bang, answering his critics and fulfilling all expectation with the award winning “Reality Check”. The album became an International best seller and paved the way for Jassi Sidhu’s meteoric rise in India, a territory previously un-explored. Bhangra lover’s world-wide couldn’t enough of tracks such as “Ranjha”, “Veer Ji” and “Ama Ni Ama” and Jassi Sidhu firmly established himself as an International star at his first attempt.

Jassi Sidhu undoubtedly the UK’s finest home grown singer. Over the last decade Punjabi music fans across the world have taken his distinct sound to heart, the grown to instantly recognise his music. In last recent period of time Jassi Sidhu has been wowing audience all over the UK with the finest artist of his generation. With the release of his new album and international tours already being lined up for the remainder of year alongside his already hectic national schedule, 2008-09 looks set to be the year of Jassi Sidhu.
