Born in a village near Aligarh in a humble farming family, little did this boy know that the music that throbbed through his veins when he ran barefoot in his fields would completely possess him one day. Come rain or thunder, under the scorching sun or around the fire in winter Mayoor sang ceaselessly. The rigourous farm routine along with the tough demands of the local school did not stop him from singing the song of his soul. As he grew up, his untiring search for a proper teacher with formal music training took him to Delhi where he met his first guru - Akhtar Alam. Akhtar ji seeing his keen interest and talent persuaded him to take admission in the prestigious Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. It was like a dream come true. Along with a part-time job to support himself everyday was filled with music lessons, hours of riyaaz and attending concerts of maestros in the evening. After 8 years of training in Hindustani classical music Mayoor decided to take a break and make his debut album “REET”.
