Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar was born in Alwar (Rajasthan) in the year 1927. The young Rahim Fahimuddin was trained in music by his father for more than 35 years. The promising pupil responded by devoting the next 14 years of his life to the single-minded practice of the elements of voice culture, entailing the mastery of the 12 basic alankaars and the 40 techniques used in the Dagar baani tradition. Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar is known not only for the power and spontaneity of his aalaap, but also for his rich repertoire of compositions. As a person, the Ustad is simple and of sober habits and temperamentally averse to publicity and self-aggrandizement. It is the quality of music which has taken him to many countries like the USA, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Italy for performances before select audiences.
