About Daler Mehndi

Biography

Daler Mehndi is an Indian Pop/Bhangra Singer form India. He was born (18 August, 1967) in Takht Shri, Patna, Bihar India. His real name is Daler Singh, Officially known as Daler Mehndi, his elder brother suggest him to took his name as Daler Mehndi because Daler is a big fan of Parvez Mehndi, he always sang his songs, So his brother put his name Daler Mehndi. He has many different abilities in them like, he is record artist, musician, song writer, record producer, performer and environmentalist. He is created his era by his Pop and Bhangra songs and beats and make his existence in Music Industry. Mehndi is an icon in pop music with his energetic dance songs. His First album brokes the sales record in India.

Early Life And Learning

Daler belonged to a musical family, his father was a Ajmer Sigh Chandan who was expire recently due to kidney and liver. His Father was also a Preacher in Patna Sahib Gurudwara. Daler raised in patna, He began singing from his childhood and he was taught ragas form his parents at the age of Six. Or in the age of fourteen he spent three years to learn singing and Tabla, Dholak, Dhool, Harmonium and tanpura from his teacher Ustad Raahat Ali Khan Saheb of Gorakhpur.

After that he moved to San Francisco, United States, where he worked as cab driver and there he formed a band. Initially he sang ghazals inspired by the poets Qateel Shifai and Firaq Gorakpuri. In 1992 he was in a car accident that injured a jaywalking man who Mehndi then took to the hospital. Mehndi was sued as a result of the mishap.

Popularity

Daler switched from classical music to pop, and he released his first album in 1995 named as Bolo Ta Ra Ra, that is a biggest hit of Daler and sold out around millions of copies. He received the award for vioce of Asia International Ethnic and Pop music contest in 1994. He is also received Best Male Pop Singer award in 1966 for Dar Di Rab Rab and in 1997 for Ho Jayegi Bale Bale.

He is also worked in the film Mrityudata and Arjun Pandit. His success helped him negotiate a record-breaking deal with his record company Magnasound for 20.5 million rupees. He has also been a guest star on the new Indian version of Sesame Street known as Galli Galli Sim Sim. His album "Tunak Tunak Tun" is also a most popular song by him. Tunak Tunak Tun was the first music video to make use of bluescreen technology in India.

Controvresies

Mehndi was accused of being a member of a scam bringing illegal immigrants to Canada by disguising them as musicians, a charge he denies. He was in hiding for a month before he surrendered to police in Patiala and charged with 31 counts of immigration law violations. Punjab police director-general, A. A. Siddiqui, later stated Mehndi was innocent and insinuated that the confusion arose because Daler and his brother, who was the original target of the scandal, looked alike. Mehndi has also commented on the legal troubles of his brother Mika Singh and performer Rakhi Sawant, saying that "party kissing" is an undesirable addition to Indian culture.

An Indian Islamic group called Raza Academy took Mehndi to court over some of the lyrics and the video of his album Nabi Buba Nabi to be offensive. Several of the words were changed, removing references to "prophet".

Personal

Daler Mehndi is type of Hindi-Pop singer that he infuses with Rababi Singing, a Sikh musical tradition, the similar to techno, dance and house music with the folk sound of an Indian tabla being played in the background. His popularity and the concurrent revival of Bhangra music is thought to be driven by the ease of dancing to it and a national pride in the Indian people.

Daler Mehndi is a environmentalist, he established the Daler Mehndi Green Drive to help to make a cleaner Enviroment in Delhi. Daler has donated around 85 million rupees to the green drive and 12 million for the people of Gujarat earthquake affected people and built 16 houses for them, He has also helped rehabilitate victims of the Orissa cyclone and street children in Kenya.

Politics

In August 2013, He Joined the Indian National Congress.
